Unable to see my Synology NAS on LAN with Vodafone Broadband

I have just signed up to Vodafone Broandband, when connecting my Synology NAS drive to the back of the router via ethernet I am unable to see my device. I have tried to discover the device but still no joy, can anybody help?

It works fine with my old Talk Talk Router.

Okay, so I'm new here but I had the problem with not finding my NAS and a few other things on the network.  So I decided on a slightly overkill solution and set up my little SBC (Raspberry Pi Clone) up as a DNS server so I could also have it working as a name server on the local network.  So one of the things I needed to do to get this working was give the SBC a fixed local IP address.  As soon as I had that one device with a fixed IP, I found that local SAMBA name resolution suddenly started working for everything - I'd not needed to set up the local caching DNS server!

I've since played with this, and as long as there is a single device (doesn't matter which device) with a router set local IP address then local Samba resolution on the network will work!  Of course, this could just be something odd with my network - but it's worth a try!

Is it possible you'd set up a static ip or special dhcp up on the NAS when it was on your old network? Highly possible there's a conflict in those areas.

Hmm, new forums suggesting a 5-year-old thread needed an answer? 🤣

@CrimsonLiar  It's the new "conversational" sort which makes sorting in chronological order a joke. On the preceding page someone had added a new post.

Switch to linear mode in your settings chaps. The forum default now seems to be threaded, which while it may have worked on old bulletin boards really is difficult to get back into.

I had the same on the "Landline phone with own router on FTTP" thread, trying to find the new post in a thread 16 pages long was a nightmare. I've now also reverted to linear layout for reading.

And why doesn't this

work yet?

Can't see your screenshot yet but are we talking messages?

It's the "Jump to first unread post in a topic" option.

I presume whatever is the cause, is why threads (topics) with new posts are no longer "bolded".

I not had any messages since the changes, so I've not noticed any problems.

@Jayach  The bold unread currently appears to only work at the root level of the Forum.
