YouTube not working thanks to Vodafone

For a couple of weeks now YouTube is very hit and miss as you if its working or not via the Vodafone Fibre 200 broadband. It was working fine before and nothing changed my end however all devices in the house suffer with ads not loading, random videos failing to load, shorts only playing a small portion of the video etc. I am using an Asus router and therefore the "Support" team refuse to help in any way.

Connecting to a VPN resolves the issue which to be points towards the VodaFone DNS servers / filtering etc. I have tried using alternative DNS servers with no luck.

Any ideas? Anyone else suffering the same?

All other streaming services are functioning fine, its purely a YouTube issue and seems to be to be related to the ads. maybe something related to tracking??

To be honest, in this situation it sounds like you have the Diversion adblocker set up on the router with too zealous a block list.

Hi @jstott1070! I'm sorry you're experiencing issues with YouTube buffering/not working. Please reach out to our Social Media team here as they have account access and will be able to investigate your services further with you 🙂

Thank you Beth, I will do thank you although I have tried to speak with the “dedicated Wi-Fi experts” about this who clearly can’t deal with anything off script and in fact refused to even attempt to investigate as I have the audacity to use my own router.

I have joined in the other thread about this topic and will follow closely but will also use the social media route if this helps escalate this issue.

I very much doubt it will.

@jstott1070 - We'll need the Vodafone router to be connected, so that we can see in detail from our side what's happening.

@CrimsonLiar

This is absolutely not the case. Lots of us are having the same issues. It's infuriating.

Interesting there is no Thumbs down option on this forum…

The forum is for users to try to help each other. Why would you need a thumbs down? If the advice doesn't work for you, just move on. If it proves useful you can thank them.
