Hi can someone please help i tried the tech phoneline and they didn't seem to understand what i wanted to do or it was too advanced
I have a cctv that i normally connect to on my phone, i had no issues with my previous 3 routers, i have just joined vodafone ,in expert mode, i setup the port number and saved it set to the local ip4 address of the cctv
if i connect on my phone via wfi (LAN) it works
however if i try from my phone via a mobile connection out of the building it will not connect, even port forwarding websites do not work connection is closed.
i then turned on exposed host function and waited 30 mins it has made no difference still can not connect. i'm totally baffled i must of missed something and don't know what to do now? any ideas? many thanks
Hi
I don't know, but...
Hidden away in your account may be the filters to stop spam, hi-jacks, porn etc and cctv forwarding.
Therefore try a new DNS lookup, like 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 and/or remove family filter protection.
thanks for the reply, can't see any protection stuff anywhere
do you mean change the dns from automatic lookup to manual and put those numbers in?
Yes, on the basis that you can always revert.
It's a Lo-Cost/No-Cost option.
Forgive me if my questions expose my lack of knowledge of port forwarding, but I've never had a need to port forward. All I.P. cameras I've used have accessed a web service and have been viewed via that service.
If you need to port forward your camera then it must be running a server and you can access that server locally. Is that via it's I.P.address or a name?
When trying to access it externally do you then use your routers I.P. address or or it's internet name?
there is no web service for this camera its directly plugged in to a DVR
got it sorted in the end , hard reset of the router
