@Michelle2368

If your old provider uses the OpenReach network, then yes. Although there have been cases where the old provider hasn’t actioned the changeover.

If your old provider is/was Virgin, then no.

Not entirely true, if @Michelle2368 is going on to a full fibre (FTTP) connection. (either Openreach or CityFibre)

New to this site, so forgive me if I’m hijacking this thread.

I’m due to transfer to VF Fibre 100 and Phone, VOIP. (City Fibre) from my existing TalkTalk FTTP BB with legacy network phone service (all Openreach). During the ordering process I stated my preference for phone retention albeit via VOIP.

Anyone know if I should do anything further to mitigate any potential problems later on?

I would ring or email every one involved just to be on the safe side .no harm in checking

I moved from TT FTTC to VF FTTP & they let TT know straight away. It was pretty obvious as TT kept pestering me (via phone calls/texts/emails) to stay with them, the 1st text from TT arrived within hours of my VF application being accepted.

@smallal

Good to hear that TalkTalk were advised by Vodafone of you leaving.

Ofcom rules state it should happen on FTTC to FTTC switches, but there is no such ruling concerning switches between different technologies, so always best to check with the loosing supplier that they will cease taking payments.

Did the TalkTalk line cease at the same time the Vodafone fibre one went live, or was there a small difference?

If you are switching between FTTC providers, and you have let Vodafone handle the switch, yes.

If any other scenario, maybe, but best to assume not.
