So I'd say No don't pass any Bank Account details to Live Chat.
Personally I wouldn't pass my Bank Account details unless absolutely necessary and I was 100% sure they needed it. Especially to a company that must already have this from setting up the Direct Debit.
What type of conversation were you having that warranted that sort of information being asked for may I ask ?
If they needed proof who you were then there's other information they can ask that identifies you.
Did they need this type of information to proceed with the chat ?
If Vodafone need this information then ring 191 and proceed this way.
Have a word with the Vodafone Social Media Team's via Vodafone Social Media Team's Link and they'll pass this back to the relevant department.
