Hello,
has anyone else been quoted silly prices to upgrade their monthly phone contract?
I have spoken to 4 different people over 2 days who have all give me different quotes which are waayy over what I’m already paying.
when I spoke to these advisors and said I was getting better offers with other providers they pretty much told me to go else where.
Really surprised with Vodafone sales/upgrade team as they don’t seem to care about losing customers.
My contract runs out in 12 days so now I’ll have to switch over providers which I didn’t originally want to do.
Where is everyone finding the better deals for the moment?
Thanks

Hi @Adelelilyxx
You could try an independent such as Carphone Warehouse as they sometimes give sweeter deals as they get a kickback from the network for opening up a contract, and sometimes pass this onto the customer.
They may also offer better tariffs instead of the Evo contracts Vodafone now offer.
Also they don't have a network infrastructure to maintain which is costly.
If you do go this route then usually the advice is to open up a new contract and then have your own number ported onto the new contract.
i.e
Use the Pac from Vodafone to another networks Payg account you set up.
When the port has successfully completed and everything works i.e calls , texts and data then ask them for a Pac and give that to Vodafone to move your original number to the new contract via Carphone Warehouse.
It does mean jumping through a few hoops and isn't instant but it's a known route to get this done !
If you forum search you'll other threads discussing the route to do this.
Or ask for an upgrade from Carphone Warehouse and see what they offer although better deals will be via a new contract with new number.
The other option is to wait till a week is left to run on your contract and ring 191 and choose the thinking of leaving option and see what the Retentions Department can offer.
This sometimes relies on the new phone wanted.
A new flagship phone may not have sweeter deals.
If they can't better the price then ask for a Pac which allows you to then give that to a new alternative network to move your number.
The Pac from Vodafone remains live for 30 days.
This shows Vodafone your serious about looking elsewhere. Hopefully they'll look again at what can be done or they may ring you back although this isn't guaranteed.
You could look at sim only if your phone is OK or Voxi which is owned by Vodafone too.
You can either just let the Pac terminate after 30 days of not using it or give it to a network that provides adequate service where you live , work and commute.
Hopefully Vodafone or an independent can retain you to remain on the Vodafone Network.
I wish you all the best. Take care. 😎

It's not that surprising really. We all want to pay less and get more.
My Unlimited max contract was £25 two years ago, now if I renew it, it's £32 for the same deal. (discounted from £39)
Other networks are also putting their prices up, if you want to save money you have to move to a MVNO and you don't always get the same features or support. That said, Vodafone customer support just gets worse every year, I don't know how they they can justify being one of the most expensive networks.
