DISGUSTED Vodafone made incorrect defaults on equifax, my mortgage was denied and now homeless

I have an account with Equifax who notified me that I missed 4 payments that then made me a serious defaulter and now my credit rating has gone from good to extremely  poor. I  had my life pLANS RUINED, AS MY PREVIOUS MORTGAGE OFFER HAS NOW BEEN CANCELLED AND DENIED. WHICH HAS MADE ME HOMELESS.

Now after hours and hours on the phone with Vodafone pleading for removal on my file if you ever got through to anyone who said they can help and if they said they could would call you back they never did. 37 phone calls and over 100 hours WASTED. Also when I final.y speak with someone, the information they’ve got is absolutely different to any information that I’ve seen and have.

not once whilst Vodafone have been making these default marks has Vodafone bothered to even call me and tell me my account is overdue. They are breaking so many ethical laws and don’t take any responsibility to try and help and make customers do the leg work. I think I defaulted once years ago and you cut me off a day after missed payment. So why have you not done this.

Mind my language but I’m super ##~## upset and it’s caused me to feel really ##~## ##~##. My credit files gone from 999 to 0 in a day from your ##~## actions and crap communication thanks. Perhaps I can use the old Vodafone box to build my new house in a back alley

Hello @ADAMROSE

If Vodafone have applied a default or marker that is not warranted then they have a duty of care to remove them.

Usually payments are taken via Direct Debit which stops accounts being overdue.

If a person decides not to utilise the direct debit method of payment then the onus and responsibility is upon the account holder to make manual payments on time.

Please contact the Vodafone Social Media Team's via Twitter DM or Facebook Messenger and they'll collate your information and pass this to their dedicated Credit File Specialist Team's who'll investigate this.

You can also contact Experian / Equifax and ask them to apply a Notice of Correction.

Default-on-your-Credit-File-How-to-add-a-Notice-of-Correction.

They'll only apply this if the default isn't warranted.

I appreciate how damaging a default can be from my own personal experience so I wish you all the best with this.

I'm really sorry to hear about the experience with credit file @ADAMROSE. We'd be more than happy to help you take a closer look at the account and help you get to the bottom of what happened here. So we can get the ball rolling, please drop us a DM over on Twitter or Facebook here 👍

It’s really the last thing I was expecting and if only you could really see what Vodafones actions have done. I feel sick and quite scared

I’m so sorry this has happened to you. I’m not in quite the same situation but getting that way. Checked my credit score tonight and Vodafone have marked down 3 missed payments and haven’t bothered to contact me once regarding them!! I’m disgusted by them.
