Incorrect Default on Credit File - how to request removal?

Hi. A default has just been recorded on my credit file, in connection with a 'settled' Vodafone account. This was a 30 day rolling contract taken on 18th August. I called and cancelled the contract on 3rd September, and settled the account immediately.  I then recieved a bill from a debt recovery company which i didn't understand.

So, I promptly called Vodafone and paid the small amount they claimed was outstanding. Then letters from a debt management company started arriving in the post,  staying that if I dont pay the outstanding £0.00, Vodafone would register a default on my credit file, etc.

Again, I called Vodafone to check and each time, Vodafone reassured me that my account was fully settled.

Last week, I got notified by my credit agency that a default was soon to appear from Vodafone. Again, I called Vodafone and they reassured me that the account was fully settled, they had it under control and it would not be the case.

Today, a default has been registered on my credit file from Vodafone. I am in the process of obtaining credit and it's important to maintain a good credit history. I want Vodafone to expunge this completely or I will seek legal action.

Can someone please advise how to contact the credit file support team on this issue?

Many Thanks

I would suggest to also contact your Credit House and ask about adding a Notice of Correction so that anyone conducting a search can see your explanation as to why a default is showing @DeeDarah

They can also advise about the default.

The Communications Ombudsman maybe also abke to advise although they May suggest to give Vodafone 8 weeks from the date of your complaint to cone to a reasonable solution. Advise them this is time sensative due to your current circumstances.

Ask the Vodafone customer service team to involve their Credit File Specialist Team as only they can arrange to remove a default although that alone can sometimes take 30 days to then drop off.

I appreciate how damaging a default can be due to my own personal experience so I wish you all the best.

If I can be of any further help then please don't hesitate. Take care.  😎
