Leaving Vodafone at end of contract

I am looking to leave Vodafone at the end of my contract in a couple of weeks and port my number to a new network. When I look at getting a PAC to do this I'm warned of early end of contract charges. 

I don't want to end the contract now, just get the code to provide to the new network for a future activation date. This will hopefully allow for a seamless transfer.

Is this possible?

Early termination fees apply when you transfer, not when you ask for the PAC.  So just get your PAC shortly before your contract period is due to expire and wait for the right day.
