New phone as a gift

Hi all. We just recently got a new phone on a contract and it came yesterday, but it is for a Christmas gift. Am I ok to leave it in the box for another 3 weeks or does it have to be turned on and activated straight away?

@0NLY777 Turn it on to make sure it's OK. Imagine opening your present on the day and it doesn't work for some reason.

While you don't need to open it immediately, it is often a good idea to check the device over and make sure everything is in working order, especially as you'd be outside of the returns period at your intended point of usage. It's also important to be aware that you'll be charged for your contract from receipt of delivery, rather than when you choose to use it and connect the SIM.
