I'm surprised that the Community is not up in arms about Vodafone's plan to remove Turkey from their list of free roaming destinations. Especially since the last time they tried it there was an outcry! Is it down to Covid-19?

Which network would you recommend moving to?

Here are the costs for Smarty, please compare them to the costs for Vodafone that the moderator has suggested were still value for money!

Nothing like restricting the freedom of speech and discussion...... ^^^^^
Suck it up Vodafone you've been called out for ignoring customer needs and unilaterally abusing your market position.
How anyone can say Max Unlimited is a value for money tariff is beyond belief.
Let me reiterate that for me personally.it would mean an increase in charges of £180+ per annum. I would therefore have to spend 30 days in Turkey to break even and use the network every day. In reality I'll spend anywhere between 40 and 50 days a year in Turkey... but guess what? I'll use Captainet or Veganet who give real value for money for broadband at less than £10 for a month and it's switched on within 24 hours...
Anyway it's too late I've moved to another network provider... but I will continue to mention this debacle to other travellers to Turkey who think they will have inclusive roam free to Turkey on their existing tariff....

Well said all of you!
Insult added to injury!
This has inspired me to do the SIM only comparisons and there are some very good deals out there. My son has been using giffgaff for years and delights in the deal and the service.
Thank you all for your support ...... and so long Vodafone!

If I were to decide to go to roaming for one day in Turkey as a republic of Ireland customer that would cost me 5 Euro for the day right?
If somebody from Dublin were to call me what would that cost them per minute?
What would it cost me per minute?
Anybody have any idea?

You will need to ask Vodafone Ireland this question this is the forum for UK help and support.
Give your network customer service a call, they will help.

Some updated information. I am currently stuck in Turkey and can't go anywhere
Spent 2 hours on the Vodafone chat bot/line yesterday was eventually persuaded I had to upgrade to Global roaming £30.47 instead of the £11.00 I had been paying , but with the assurance I could cancel when I get back to UK. I did not want to be committed to that expense for 24 months.
I use very little data as I have wi-fi, but need to be able to make and receive a few calls. Unlimited Max with Global roaming is not only overkill it is fairly ridiculous when I can't roam anywhere let alone globally.
Then this morning saw the reply that for anyone already in Turkey they were extending the free roaming period.
Another 2 hours today first with someone who knew nothing about it then eventually transferred to someone in Belfast who after much searching found this:-
So what I've been directed to is this
"we’re moving Turkey from a Roam Free to a Roam Further destination for new and existing customers from Wednesday 6 May.
Due to the Covid19 Crisis, we will be delaying this change for an initial 30 days for any Vodafone customer that is already in Turkey.
Our number 1 priority is to keep our customers connected and the unprecedented travel restrictions have severely affected people’s ability to return to the UK. We’ve reached out to these customers directly letting them know of the change and have set up a dedicated team to handle their calls. We will review this just before the 30 day grace period comes to an end."
Can't say I felt very "Reached out to". Not a text, email or call, from a communications company at that.
Then only another 45 minutes to change back to the original plan. Just as a bonus found I had been charged £48.33 instead of the already extortionate £30.47.
The customer service is lousy because the agents either don't have the information they need or can't find it.
Vodafone has used the current Coronavirus situation in a cynical example of "burying bad news".

My thoughts are with you.
We were due to fly to Dalaman on Saturday 9th and are missing our place.
Good luck and keep safe.
