Upgrading to handset after 3 months?

Hello I'm on a SIM only deal and I know previously you could upgrade to a handset deal after 3 months but have been told from a few different people that Vodafone now do a full credit check for this. Is this information correct? Also would I still be credited checked if I done the upgrade through a 3rd party like Carphone Warehouse?

Definitely credit checked each and every time you upgrade  @TJ4892 , you will taking out a credit agreement and this will be detailed on your credit report as a loan, there is more about this here Credit Checks  The third party will also complete an identity and credit check,  Please remember you would be unable to take advantage of the 3 month upgrade option through the third party without paying early termination charges, you need to go direct with Vodafone.
