Us roaming (Boston)

So this is not the first time i have had this issue. In Boston 2 weeks ago and regularly I dropped onto edge, which is obviously useless. I had to reboot and then it generally went back to 4g or 5g but had to do this a lot...

Never had this in any other country, I travel a lot. Seems to be a us only issue.

Hey there,

This is an issue for Vodafone customers roaming in the States at the moment.

Long story short, they are closing down the 3G networks over there and in order to make/receive calls, Vodafone need to launch their voLTE (or 4G calling) service when roaming.

They haven't, they missed their summer launch date and its now (hopefully) going to launch later this year.

Until then, they're pushing roaming traffic onto T-Mobile and for some reason, the data keeps dropping. When it comes to calls, it will only work on 2G which is reliant on being in a 2G area and of course the network is saturated.

Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

In the interim, more info can be found on this post.

That is a perfectly comprehensive answer. Thank you so much. Makes perfect sense

The other aspect which is often overlooked is the phone also needs to support VoLTE roaming, which appears to be mostly just the latest ones that have received recent updates?
