I've been trying to take out a new contract with Vodafone and my credit check keeps failing, which doesn't make any sense. After doing some digging (only possible because my brother works for a credit check company) I've found that Vodafone reported my previous contract as an unsecured loan! Clearly this is incorrect as I wouldn't have been able to take out an unsecured loan with Vodafone, they credit checked me two years ago and I passed. Vodafone needs to sort it out as it's stopping me from taking out any phone contract.
Any advice for getting Vodafone to amend my file? Sick of them treating me like a criminal and banning me from applying for a new contract for 90 days when it's their error.

Sign up with places like Credit Karma and Clearscore for free, to look at your credit file.
Was your previous contract for a handset? That may be considered an unsecured loan, but networks do their best to not tell people the implications of this when they sell a commission based product.

You don't need to sign up for anything to request a free copy of your statutory file from the 3 leading CRAs.
Clearscore for one, are very likely to just sell you a meaningless "credit score"
