I bought a Realme 8 phone this week because I wanted something sub £200 with great battery life, fast charging and Wifi Calling. Mobile signal is weak here and sometimes it drops off and I also spend a lot of time off grid so the Realme 8 ticked all the boxes. Long story short I cannot get the Wifi calling to work on this phone and after talking to various support lines including finally Vodafone, Vodafone themselves have confirmed that they do not support wifi calling on this phone and that is why it is not available as an option in my settings. It would appear apparently if I put in an EE sim.
The support agent who to be fair tried all sorts to help me before one of the senior advisors confirmed it was the model of phone that was the issue sent me this link that shows which phones are compatible with Vodafone wifi calling. https://www.vodafone.co.uk/business/business-mobile-plans/mobile-plan-features/vodafone-wi-fi-callin...
Some of these are quite old so what is the issue? Is it just that Vodafone have not got round to enabling wifi calling to work on the Realme 8 and if so is it likely to become an option in the near future or should I be looking at another model phone thats on their list. Most of them are no longer available new.

Its not just me though Kev. I think thousands of customers will be effected. Ive certainly now heard from many across the various threads on several forums now saying the same. I suspect not many have tried quite as hard as I have though with Vodafone to get it sorted.
Anyway I think I may have come up with a temporary way around it. This phone is dual sim so presumably if I put in a second EE Sim I will get the wifi calling option on that sim and just use that for times when there is no signal on either. It sounds too simple to work just like that though. 🤣

Yes, which Android version is it running, if not 12 or higher it might be a waste of time although I think EE is a bit kinder to customers.

11 but many of the phones on Vodafones list are older with Android 10 I think.

Dunno mate, but Voda seems to just have listed all the Samsung phones regardless which is about par for them.

Well funnily enough my phone just upgraded to Android 12. Still no wifi calling of course.

OOOOOH, get you with yer Android 12, surely this was avaiable on Android 10 or earlier, so what happened TBH I'm not bothered, I think I might just kick Voda into touch and find a provider WGAS.
Hmm!! interesting Voda introduced it in 2015 over 2 & 3G

Oh its been around for yonks. I remember setting it up for a client on an iPhone 4 I think donkeys years ago. May have been about 2015 possibly. Its not new hence why I assumed by now it would all be dead easy but having learned what I have learned the past few days apparently not!

It would be interesting to know exactly what is involved in creating the OST provisioning update. I assume its just a bit of code specifically adopted for each phone model silently sent out. Perhaps someone from Vodafone would like to comment. I did offer in the messenger thread to be a Guinee pig but they didnt want me .😪
