Solution

cancelling tablet contract

Hi guys,

Few years ago I made a contract for a friend's phone who couldn't get it because of the credit score , while creating the contract they have used his email address and basically all the details except my card for direct debit and the my address; so the contract is in my name but has a lot of his details. Now the problem is that halfway through the contract he accepted an offer for a tablet getting another 2years of contract(this not affecting the phone's contract length). When the time came I have cancelled the phone contract following the disconnection of the number. Now the contract for the tablet is almost done and I want to cancel it but I know only the account number of the tablet, the direct debit is on my card and the address of the contract is a 7 months old address where I don't live anymore(I still have proofs that I lived at the contract's address but is 7 months old). I've been trying to cancel but I failed to answer the memorable word (and my friend has no idea which was it),when the contract was made(I answered with the date of the first statement I got but it was wrong)

So how can I cancel it?

The contract is due to expire this month or next month but I know that if I'm not cancelling it payments will still be taken.

Hello @paulpaul96

Your correct in that the contract wouldn't end, but would instead drop onto a 30 day rolling contract.

It is reasonable that the Vodafone Agent needed the security credentials for the account to ensure they were speaking with the account holder.

Perhaps try the Vodafone Social Media Teams via Contact-us-for-account-specific-queries for support as they too have full account access however they will you to pass security questions too.

I'd suggest Twitter and link back to your thread here including your forum username so your not having to repeat yourself again.

I wish you all the best with this situation.

Another potential way around this is to take the SIM card out of the tablet and put it in a phone (I'm working on the theory here that the tablet isn't one that can send/receive SMS)

- Switch on and send the word STAC as a text message to 75075

- You should get a text back with the STAC code for the number linked to that SIM card

if you then know someone on another network, get them to submit the STAC info to their network and 24 hours later that tablet line will close. This would bypass the need to contact Vodafone.

It seems like you're in a complex situation. To cancel the tablet contract, you'll likely need to contact the service provider's customer support. Explain the situation and provide any relevant account details you have, such as the account number. You might need to prove your identity and address changes with documentation. Additionally, consider reaching out to your friend for any information that could help verify your identity or assist in canceling the contract.
