NUC provided did not work. I tried 3 times and now have 2 attempts remainng after checking by using the *#*#7465625#*#* code to access the service menu. I've seen lots of posts like this have been posted recently and it's really annoying to say the least. I'm in the UK and used an activated BT sim that works in any other unlocked phone when making the attempts. Any help appreciated.

I don't blame you as using up all the attempts would result in a hardlock which would then mean the phone would need to be sent off by Vodafone to have its counter reset.
With your model of phone it should be a case of inserting the activated non Vodafone sim card which then invokes the pop up box to type the code in.
Are you getting any type of error message when typing it in ?
It might be also worth conducting a search on the forum for similar threads.
Ultimately if the Nuc wont work then either Live Chat or the Vodafone Social Media Teams via Contact-us-for-account-specific-queries will be able to help.

Just to add....
From https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/mobile-phones-tablets-mobile-phones/xperia-z5
"To enter the Network Unlock Code (NUC)
Turn off the Xperia device
Insert the SIM card from your new operator
Turn on the Xperia device.
If prompted, enter the PIN code for the SIM card (4 digits).
Enter the Network Unlock Code / Network Control Key (16 digits)."

Just spoke with live chat for 20 or so minutes. Only suggestion was to re submit a fresh NUC request and try the new code when it comes through.

They may then assume the Nuc already supplied is not right in some way @jackjbbailey
As your close to the max attempts please be careful when entering the code.
