Took out a new contract with vodafone, porting my number from EE.

  • imessage and facetime never worked on physical sim
  • Moved to esim. Still didnt work (stuck in Activation or error activating)
  • Spent 4 days on phone with vodafone and apple. Vodafone saying its Aples fault and Apple say.....
  • Tried all the usual stuff online, turned off imessage, checked locale setting, waited 24 hours, reset network, even had Vodafone wipe my account and losing all connnectivity for half a day whilst they sorted a new esim.
  • SMS messages work fine.

Any suggestions before i cancel my contract and go back to EE who btw never had an issue for over 2 years.?

All sorted! The new sim did the trick, iMessage activated instantly after putting in the new sim.

What’s worrying is that Vodafone or Apple didn’t suggest this as a possible solution so hopefully this will help anyone else out who encounters this problem.

I tried many solutions online , but finally solved it by signing out of facetime and sign in again.

If FaceTime’s giving you trouble on your iPhone, I totally get how that can be frustrating, especially if you rely on it to stay in touch with people. There’s something so seamless about FaceTime, but when it stops working, it feels like your connection is just...gone. Luckily, there are a few things you can try to get it back up and running smoothly.

The first thing to check is whether FaceTime is even enabled. It might sound obvious, but sometimes, after an update or for some random reason, it can get turned off. Just go to Settings, scroll down to FaceTime, and make sure that little switch is toggled on. While you're there, also check that you’re signed in with your Apple ID, because FaceTime needs that to connect. If it shows that it’s waiting for activation, sometimes toggling it off and then back on again can kickstart the activation process.

Another thing to look into is whether you’re connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data. FaceTime needs a good internet connection to work properly, so if your Wi-Fi signal is weak or if you’re on a spotty cellular network, that could be the problem. You might want to try switching between Wi-Fi and cellular data to see if one works better than the other. And while you’re at it, try turning Airplane Mode on and off—sometimes that refreshes the network connection and sorts out any weird connection glitches.
