Voicemail has new new messages. - When travelling abroad (Portugal)

I have Visual Voicemail active for my iOS device

(iPhone 11 Pro/iOS 15.0)

When I am travelling abroad (in Portugal) I get a daily message via SMS:

"Voicemail has new new messages. Please dial 121 or +447836121121"

I never get voicemail messages. And I don't want to be interrupted every day with this message. This does NOT happen when I am in UK - only when I am abroad.

How can I turn this off?

Thank you!

So - now I’m in America and I get a text message 2 or 3 times a day saying;

Voicemail has no new messages.

this is clearly a known problem but Vodafone is unwilling to invest the time and energy to figure it out.

and the admins here aren’t able to get the issue to the product team. The only time they have replied was when I thought it has stopped.

if Vodafone ever wants someone to help them troubleshoot this issue - ask me!

and in the meantime the response “where’s the issue? Just ignore them” that is fine. It sums up so much of business these days. Just ignore the errors and bugs and inconveniences because there is no profit in building quality software hardware or products these days.

sorry. Rant over.

Hey @tyzer007, we're aware that some of our customers are receiving this message whilst abroad and we're currently working on a fix. In the meantime, you can avoid getting this message by leaving yourself a voicemail.  Then leave it in your inbox without listening to it. I understand this isn't ideal, but will stop you receiving the message whilst our team are looking into the cause of the issue.

I think you’ve been misled when you say, “our team are looking into the cause of the issue..”

This thread we has been going on since January. Have you got anything to demonstrate that Vodafone have been trying and failing to fix this for over 6 months? If not, consider the possibility that VF have decided the cost of fixing this is more than they’ll lose in lost customers so they’re ignoring the problem. It’s getting ridiculous  to keep saying it’s being looked into, without any progress,

after so long.

I’m in France and have exactly the same issue often multiple times a day. Very frustrating.

Does it stop when you return to UK?

Not returned yet!

Haha. I did come back but missed this.
When I’m in the UK I do not get the daily announcement

I’ve also now done as suggested and left myself a voicemail - and not listened to it so it is still a new message.

and it has stopped the annoying reminders

Well - it's now been a few more weeks. I have travelled to Sweden - and back to Portugal.

I have 2 voicemails that I have not listened to.

And I'm still getting messages.  Now the message (every day) says:

"Voicemail has 2 new messages."

This just isn't getting fixed. I begin to think that this is a "revenue generating tactic" to get me to use my Vodafone minutes just to check my voicemail.
