WiFi calling

My Apple SE mobile phone always used to connect to WiFi calling once in my house as I have a very weak signal in the rural area where I live.  However for the last 3 months it now drops the WiFi calling when in the house and connects to a very weak Vodafone signal hence I’m missing lots of calls unless I force my phone to go onto WiFi calling by switching on airplane mode  permanently but then I have to remember to switch off airplane mode when I leave the house.
Why won’t my WiFi calling automatically stay on when in the house when I have a very weak signal?

sorry i can't fully understand your problem. Do you mean you have to turn on airplane mode for Wifi calling? That seem strange.

Hi @Colin13846! Once Wi-Fi Calling is enabled, this will kick in any time you're unable to use your Vodafone signal. If the phone is picking up a Vodafone signal then it will automatically try to use this before Wi-Fi Calling is then used. For more information on Wi-Fi Calling, please click here

Hi Beth, thanks for your reply the problem is my phone keeps picking up a very weak Vodafone signal and I’m missing lots of calls. I am having to put my phones onto Aircraft mode to force it onto to WiFi calling I never used to have to do this.

Thanks for confirming what's happening @Colin13846 - I can understand how frustrating this must be. Are there any other users in the house that this is also happening to?

My wife has the earliest Apple SE while I have the latest SE. My wife’s earlier SE stays connected to WiFi calling all the time and she doesn’t have to put her phone into airplane mode like I have to.

Thanks again @Colin13846 - Please check if your phone is on the latest software. You can do this by going to: 'Settings' - 'General' and then 'Software Update'. Is your wife on Vodafone as well? If so, please test that SIM in your phone, to see if it loses the connection still. Once you've done the above tests, if it's still losing connection, we can then look to send it away to our repair center (if the phone was from us). To do this, please contact us on Social Media

Describe your problem precisely.

WiFi calling lets you make and receive phone calls over a WiFi network instead of your carrier's cellular network. This can be useful in a few situations:-

  • Weak cellular signal:- If you're in an area with poor reception, like a basement or a remote area, WiFi calling can help you stay connected.
  • Making calls abroad: Some carriers allow WiFi calling abroad, which can be cheaper than using cellular roaming.
