4g works but when 4g+ kicks in I cannot get connected for calls or data

When I get a 4g signal I can make/receive calls and transfer data.  But when I get the 4g+ signal indicator I cannot make/receive calls or download/upload anything. I have an ASUS ROG Phone 2 so full LTE shouldn't be a problem. Does anyone know what I can try to resolve this? Thanks.

Simply shouldn't affect what your doing when 4G+ is attained by the phone.

As a process of elimination try your sim card in another phone and then see what happens @chiefweasel

It might be worth checking 4G and WiFi calling is enabled on your account by following this link Calling Features Also further help from Device Guides here: Device Guides 

4G plus will show on the phone when it is idle, when you start using the phone the phone will show a 4G connection.
