Might be worth first checking your email preferences via logging into your email via a laptop / computer etc just to ensure they look right.
Also try a soft reboot by turning the phone Off and On.
And as a cure all type of method sometimes deleting the email credentials from the phone and re add the email address and password can help.
Are you using a pop3 or imap type of email account.
