Hi. After waiting for a Miui upgrade for over a year Vodafone has rolled one out today. I've done the upgrade and I am unable to enable my SIM card and hence unable to make calls. Any ideas? TIA

Hi everyone, thanks so much for flagging and rest assured this is something we've been working on with the manufacturer to get you all connected to what you love again.

To keep you all updated, Xiaomi have advised that a patch is going through final testing through their side and we're looking to verify this from our side today.

All going well, this patch should be with you over the next few days, by next week at the very latest.

Please don't try any troubleshooting steps such as a factory reset or arranging a repair of the phone as once the software is out, this will resolve things for you.

Once we have confirmation that the fix is working and when it can be released, we'll let you know ASAP here.

Thanks for the info  I've not received my Email as of yet fingers crossed 🤞🏼

Cheers for screenshot. Not got email still. See what happens

Not seen an email from Voda either.  Hope it comes soon, although because of the way they've handled this whole debarcle I'm not holding my breath.

I've received an email but the phone is still not working:

It's latest trick is to try and send Xiaomi authentication SMS messages which it does repeatedly until an error flashed up and blocks the process. Despite resetting the APN nothing happens apart from the mobile data symbol flashing on and off.

Please help!

My phone is working now but not received the email yet.

I found that when that happened to me,

Restart>

I hit the cross to close the xaiomi sim card thing.

Gotto reset APN immediately

and that got mine working but, if you restart that SIM reg things comes back again.  So now I don't shut down/restart now.

Are you serious?

My Phone is working sort of but, if you restart the hand set the xiaomi sim reg things pops up and gets in a loop again until you stop it and reset APN,   Hopefully the message I received today saying there is another update will result in a more stable (TESTED) release.

@awheeler Yes, mine did the same thing. The error message said that the activation service was sending too many SMS messages and asked if I'd let it continue to do so. I let it continue as I have free SMS messages and, eventually, it activated. However I didn't them receive the settings for mobile data and had to get those settings sent again by Vodafone.

The whole thing is just an utter farce.

Makes no difference whatsoever. Time to shame Vodafone and Xiaomi into action in the mainstream press.......

did I really just read that correctly. Vodafone are wanting  to take praise that a patch that was released earlier than expected appears to work for only a couple of people!!!

I myself don't use Twitter or Facebook and having spent more than enough time speaking to your so called tech team. I have submitted a complaint for  compensation,  that's all I need to do and await for somebody  to contact me on a number that doesn't work!
