RCS Unsupported

Recently, RCS has become "unsupported" on my Pixel 6 Pro. I'm assuming this is due to the recent shift to Google's RCS service.

I've tried resetting the Messages and Carrier Services apps, but no joy.

Can anyone help?

You may have answered your own question there @Jaydeedaz

As this pop is happening then I'm unsure how it can be circumvented unfortunately.

Yes @Jaydeedaz Vodafone have discontinued RCS service, there is an announcement here:

Rich Communication Services (RCS) Shutdown

The way forward now is using WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger etc.

If you use Google there is further information available.

Thanks AnnS. I read that, but I also read this: https://telecoms.com/520034/30-years-after-sending-the-first-text-vodafone-opts-for-google-rcs/

What does this mean for RCS at Vodafone? Do you know?

The important bit is:

Any Android devices using the Android ‘Messages’ app

48-72 hours after you are disconnected from the RCS platform, when you launch Messages, you will be prompted to accept new Ts & Cs from Google to continue to use RCS. Accepting the Ts & Cs registers you with a Google RCS platform (Messages by Google).

So it will continue to work, it's just handled by Google and not Vodafone.

Sometimes a SIM swap helps to kick RCS into working again, as it should work ok. Sometimes leaving it off for a few days, sometimes it just starts working on its own.

Has it ever worked?

Hi chistery,

It's all working again now - thanks.
