Hi @Anonymous
You would still have been receiving billing email notifications and the direct debit would have been shown on your online banking as an active direct debit and the amount would have been debited from your account on a monthly basis.
When a contract needs to be cancelled, to pass data protection and to prove you are who you say you are, the cancellation needs to be done by calling Vodafone or by using Live Chat which enables you to keep a copy of the transcript for your records. A cancellation cannot be done verbally through a store, its not an accepted method of cancellation.
As soon as the account is closed, you will receive written confirmation to confirm you have no further responsibility towards the contract and repayments. You will also receive the final and last bill with a 0.00 balance, after which time you can be confident there is nothing further owing and the number cancelled.
The best way forward now is to have a Live Chat, they will be able to escalate this for you and see if there is anything which can be done. Vodafone do not have a customer facing email facility.
There is further information below.
I wish you well.

Your personal information has been edited out of the post, so it should be OK now. All posts on the forum are public and the Vodafone team won't respond to PMs.
All mobile phone contracts (and many other) roll over monthly once completed. It would be a right royal pain if we all suddenly found ourselves disconnected after the basic term was up. I'm pretty sure this is explained in the terms when you start. If you want to move to another network and take your number with you, your PAC code will automatically cancel the first contract, but that's as far as it goes.
I'm surprised that anyone told you this was a mistake by Vodafone. Unless you asked to cancel the contract and that didn't happen, they've done exactly what they said they would.
And, yes, you would have seen the monthly payments going out of your bank account.

Have you managed to contact our team?
May I ask what this issue is regarding?
Live Chat is the best way to discuss most issues through this link , or please call 191 from a Vodafone mobile.
You can also call 0333 304 0191 from any phone.
