Setting up 4g calling ready for next year.

Hi

i have received a text saying 3g calling will end next year. I entered my IEMI number into the check box & it says that my Sony Xperia X Compact is compatible with 4g calling so i contacted a Vodafone worker via Facebook messenger & he sent me a few texts & to text CALLING to 97888. I did this & it said WiFi calling is added but nothing about 4g calling..

How can i make sure that my phone has 4g calling ? or is the WiFi calling & 4g calling the same?

Regards

Thanks, @Effie I'll await your answer. It starts in June in my area although not sure what specific day.

Thanks

The 3G mast in my area was turned off a few days ago (in a big city) and now my Sony Xperia XZ1C can't make any outgoing calls. From the info on this thread it seemed that 2G coverage would still be widespread and so non-voLTE compatible phones would still be able to make phone calls. Has anyone else experienced similar problems with this specific Sony phone?

Hi Gazmix,

It's great that you're proactive about ensuring your phone is compatible with 4G calling, especially with the impending end of 3G calling. While WiFi calling and 4G calling serve similar purposes of improving call quality and coverage, they are not the same.

To confirm whether your Sony Xperia X Compact supports 4G calling, you can try the following steps:

  1. Check Phone Settings: Go to your phone's settings menu and look for the "Network & Internet" or "Connections" section. Within this section, there may be an option to enable or configure VoLTE (Voice over LTE), which enables 4G calling.

  2. Contact Your Carrier: Reach out to Vodafone or your mobile carrier's customer support and inquire about the status of 4G calling on your device. They can provide specific information about network compatibility and any necessary steps to activate 4G calling.

  3. Test a Call: Make a call using your phone while connected to a 4G network. If your phone supports 4G calling, the call should connect seamlessly, and you may notice improved call quality compared to 3G calling.

  4. Check Carrier Settings: Some carriers require specific settings or updates to enable 4G calling on compatible devices. You can check for any carrier-specific settings or updates in your phone's settings menu or through your carrier's website or app. Also, check out Baweja Media.
