Wifi Calling - preferred options (mobile/network)

Previously was with EE and on my Samsung S20 had the option to select whether I wanted to prefer WIFI Calling over Mobile, this feature was really handy as where I live signal varies. Since moving to Vodafone when I have Wifi calling enabled I am seeing it continuously flip between Wi-Fi Calling and Mobile while I can turn flight mode on this is annoying if I don't remember to turn it back off when I left the house.

Is there a way to get this setting enabled on Vodafone ? Is it a network setting, or a phone specific setting - I have a Oppo Find X5 Pro running ColorOS13 now compared to the S20 I had where I saw this setting.

If it's not available, I am thinking of going back to EE.

As far as I'm aware, Vodafone will use the mobile network as long as the signal is strong enough and only switch to wifi if it isn't.   I also think the switch is supposed to be seamless - you can move from mobile to wifi and back again without dropping the call.   If calls work, you're fine.

I can't comment on EE, but it may be that their system either prefers wifi or the signal is weaker where you are.

up until last week, when we switched PM contracts, it was seamless...

Pixel 4XL and Pixel 3 would flash WIFI CALLING up on the top menu bar every now and then when it kicked in.

As we are in a weird network anomaly in a big town. 5 doors to our left we get 4G, but in our own house where its needed, next to nothing 😣

Had a Sure SIgnal but that got canned due to being old 3G tec 🙁

Been onto HELP for the last two days trying to get them to reactivate/push out the WiFi Calling options again to our phones but as yet mines not kicked in. 

Yesterday evening they said they were activating and told us to text a command to a number (we got a response saying it'll be upto 24hours)

One way I found to force it was to put the phone in AIRPLANE MODE,

and then turn on just the WIFI (so its not using cell 4G etc). 

My wifes Pixel 3 then made successful calls out using the WiFi but as I said, mines not kicked in yet 🤞

I've made a number of calls over forced WiFi (had my airplane mode on and wifi active)

If wifi calling works when in airplane mode, then it's working as it should and will kick in when your phone has low signal.

Vodafone believe they know best and do not let you decide if you prefer wifi calling. A few phones may ignore Vodafones config settings and allow it, but most will be forced to use the carrier settings and there's nothing you can do to change it.
