SIM network NCK?

I’ve just got my new Vodafone pay monthly sim, having previously been on an EE payg.

Taken my number with me. Will be using my existing (Huawei) phone.

However, I get the following message on my phone when trying to activate the new sim:

“SIM network unlock NCK (10 retries left).”

there is a space for me to enter this info, with the options to “Unlock” or “Dismiss”, but I don’t know what needs to be entered or where to get it from.

Can anyone advise me on this, please?

Your phone is not unlocked for use on all networks. You need to go ask whatever network supplied you with the device for the unlock code.

You'd need to contact the place you bought the phone from to know for sure, but have you previously had any other network's SIM in your phone and it's worked? Also, how long ago did you purchase the phone? Most phones sold these days are unlocked to all networks, however if you bought this before December 2021, it could be locked to the network you purchased it from

Update:

Amazingly, (for me), I’ve sorted this out now via EE contact. Code sent to me and inputted. All worked!
