Looks like you will still be under warranty. If you have an Apple Store nearby then take it in for them to look at. My only experience of this was with an IPad, and I solved it by letting the battery totally run down until it shut down and then fully recharged and it was fine after that. Maybe you have done this or it is not relevant to your phoine but thought I would share anyway.

Vodafone will send the phone for repair but inevitably there will be a charge.
You best bet is an Apple store where you may be lucky and get it swapped out for free. Even if you have to pay for a new battery (which will be a complete replacement phone) it will be less than Vodafone will most likely charge you.
