Android 6 Marshmallow update: Samsung Galaxy J5

I just wondered if anyone had issues since Android 6 Marshmallow update. I downloaded this on Monday and have had lots of trouble.

When the phone is plugged in and charging it becomes very slow and crashes. I often only see a black screen; the only option I have is to take the battery out to re-start the phone.

I also noted that sometimes when charging, I call the phone from my landline and the phone doesn't ring.

I phoned up vodafone:  the advice they gave me was to back up everything and restore factory settings. I've done this but the issues seem to persist.

Has anyone else noticed this problem?  Any advice as to what I can do?

Many thanks!

Hi

Usually I first clear the system cache on my phone and then perform a factory reset if needed.

Ie - Taken from another forum.

Step #1 Turn your phone OFF.

Step #2 Boot into Recovery Mode:- Press and hold, simultaneously, the Volume UP + Power + Home buttons until you see some small, blue, writing appear in the top left hand corner of the screen and release immediately.

Step #3 You will then see the small, stock, Recovery menu. Using the Volume UP andDOWN buttons, navigate to the menu item "Wipe cache partition".

Step #4 Once the option is highlighted you can use the Power key to enact the wipe and reboot your phone.

Sometimes it can take a few days for a phone to settle after a major firmware

If this continues then you could speak with the manufacturer via their UK website or if the phone was supplied by Vodafone they can send it off under the 24 month warranty. However this warranty does not cover issues from a drop or water damage.

If your phone shows any signs of a drop then there's a chance they will charge for any repairs.

No problem.

I'm fortunate that my Samsung Galaxy s7 edge came preloaded with Marshmallow 6.0 which I purchased directly from Samsung so the networks cannot hold back any firmware to test it to see if anything clashes with their branded phones.

Samsung uk support online will help and guide you.

Also there are Samsung Service Locations which are person can visit to have their phones looked at.

If you decide to use Vodafone then take time and date stamped pictures of the device to show the condition it was sent off in. Ask the Vodafone employee to note it's condition too.

Don't send any removable battery, back cover if removable or sim cards and Sd cards.
