For the last 24 hours or so I've only been able to pick up a GPRS signal on my Vodafone modem where I am - postcode: EN4 9RX - normally I get an excellent 3G signal that I'm very happy with.
Is anyone aware of any issues in the area? I couldn't see anything on the Faults Board - is there anywhere else issues like this would be noted? Customer Services didn't seem too sure what to do to help...
Thanks,
Thetan

Thank you for supplying your postcode, it always helps to get things moving along swiftly,
I've looked into the post code and serving sites and can see no evidence of a fault; however the reduced 3G coverage you're experiencing may be temporary.
There are a number of things we can do in a bid to improve this, at least until any network delays are eliminated:
1. Please remove the sim from the modem and insert it into a mobile phone, try to browse the internet or Vodafone Live, allowing it to function briefly on a 3G signal
2. If you are unable t attain a 3G signal via the sim in a mobile phone please let us know
3. In your VMC settings go to Settings, preferred networks, and choose 3G only, please advise whether you gain any connection at all.
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for your response.
I've tried the Vodafone broadband sim in my Blackberry and again, it only picks up a GPRS signal in and around my flat.
I've looked at the settings and interestingly "GPRS only" was selected (no idea how this happened?) but even though I've now changed it to "3G only" and rebooted, it still picks up GPRS only.
I can get a 3G signal fine when I'm away from here, its just here that its stopped working since first thing on Monday whereas previously it was excellent.
Any other thoughts?
Thanks,
Thetan

I've checked your coverage, and cannot find fault with the level of 3G coverage you're getting.
Can I ask if signal improves outside of your flat? If your signal jumps to 3G when you leave the building, there is every possibility that something is interfereing with the high-frequency 3G signal from within the building. This could be as a result of anything - from new piping being fitted to new electromagnetic equipment being used in nearby.
If you can let me know if there has been any changes and/or you can pick up signal outside of the flat, I'll keep my eye on this one if any further reports come in. The more we know the quicker we can raise a case.

Just a quick update:
- Up until around 10pm Sunday 17-01-10 I had a 4 bar 3G signal I was very happy with
- From Monday-18-01-10 to 10am today I could only get GPRS - no 3G signal within a mile of home so, thinking this was a permanent change, I ordered another package from another supplier
- I've just checked and I've got my 4 bars of 3G signal back - see attached.
It may just be coincidence but the last time we had a clear sky here (and I had my 4 bars of 3G) was Sunday 17-01-10.
I'm happy again so Thanks to all for their help and Good Luck to those with issues.
Cheers,
Thetan

I am also in EN4.
The normal signal has been virtually unusable for a week now. Sometimes can't even text. Frequently can't make a decent call. We have 2 phones, both work fine in other areas and usually do here.
Is there a problem in this area?
Exact postcode is EN4 8PB.

Would appear to be ok now but would like to know if there were any problems over the last week as the coverage was terrible and if it continued I would have to look at another network.
