BT Home Hub 4 and Sure Signal 1 not working

Hi

Hope someone can help as I'm tearing my hair as we have absolutely no mobile signal here at my home/office.

I've moved ISP to BT 3 weeks ago now (DSL broadband not fibre /infinity) and spent a lot of time with both BT and vodafone  support and read a lot of posts here trying to solve the fact that since changing ISP/router the sure signal hasn't got beyond either no lights, 1 power light or occasionally a second light blinking for a short time before all lights go off and back to one power light.

We've done the hard reset of SS then waiting 24 hours. (initially and after each of these steps)

Done the port forwarding on the home hub

On advice of BT tried assigning the SS to DMZ to prove if it is talking to router

Done the reset with the ethernet cable out

changed the SS registered postcode for 10 min then re-registered to our postcode

de-registered my mobile number and re-registered it

No success.  I note the sticky on this forum that the infinity router may not work and a refund is avaiable for new SS pruchases but this is an old SS with a HH4 and I don't really want a refund, I need it working.

Any thoughts ?

Would a new SS work?

Can someone confirm if I just take the SS to another propert and plug into the router to test it or if I need to deregister and re-register it?

Hi pedlad,

Thanks for coming back to us.

Can you try the Sure Signal in another property and let us know what happens.

Thanks

Ian

I had same problem and had followed all the steps you gave with no joy. Finally after trying the step shown in message number 9 of the below thread it resolved the issue.

Yes tried that with no success.

It's be 4 weeks nearly now since I was able to send and receive Vodafone calls from home effectively.

Can someone answer my question about testing sis at another location please? Do I reconfigure the account location or just plug it in?

Hi pedlad,

When you’re testing this at a different location, you just need to plug it in and let it configure itself.

Tried at  friends house for a couple of days and no joy - just ywo lights max again.

Brought it home and done a reset just now.

Can you check that it's connecting to your servers (your colleague mentioned it did earlier) as this will confirm the unit is "live" and the open ports mean it is talking to the router ok?

If so can you please push out the firmware to my unit as there seems to be a theme across the many SS1 threads that this may fix the problem..

thanks

Hi pedlad,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Your Sure Signal is already on the latest firmware.

It made a connection with the network at 11:32am today and then stopped at 1.00pm.

I’ve asked our support team to double check this and it looks like your Sure Signal may be faulty.

Please see our repair process here.

Thanks,

Gemma

Ok so that fact that a connection was made means we can now rule out the ISP/router can we?

Hi pedlad,

It's still possible that something there is causing the connection to drop, for example a reduction in speeds.

If the box is faulty, though, we won't see any improvement until that's been sorted.
