So I'm back on the phone to Complaints and they are asking me to cancel my current order, made on 9 Sept, and start a new order which will GUARANTEE delivery for Tuesday.
I don't know what to do, should I risk it? They have told me nothing but lies so far.

This has to be your decision.
If this was my situation I'd keep the original order Live.
If they can "guarantee" delivery for Tuesday then there's no reasonable reason why they can't attach the phone to your current Live order.

They refused. So I have finally cancelled a contract that has been running for 17 years.
And they made it clear that they could care less.
