The latest Blackberry operating system - 10.2.1 was released by Blackberry end of 2013 and is a gamechanger upgrade for the Z10 and others, enabling much greater functionality and use of apps including Android. Carriers began to respond pretty quickly both across the world and the UK to release it - except Vodafone UK. We were promised that testing the upgrade was going ahead and was coming soon in January - it's now almost June and I'm still waiting. Why is Vodafone UK still dilly-dallying with this OS release and when can business and personal customers expect the blockage to be resolved and get the upgrade - legitimately through our own paid Vodafone carrier account?

Hi there
The firmware is usually rolled out by the manufacturers of the handset and not by the network providers. Vodafone won't comment on when firmware will be rolled out to the handsets. Please take a look at the Firmware Statement for further information.

My Z10 has just updated as well and just restarting the Device. Not sure which version it is but my current was 10.2.1.2102
The previous version released about 3 months ago had the facility to use .apk files to load Android Apps. the dirst App I installed was the Vodafone Android App as that gave me the BT Wifi locations. The BT Wifi not working is a different story.
I have installed several Android app since.
EDIT. 10.2.1.2941 latest version.

Good to hear there is some movement starting - will keep checking, nothing yet - however I never even got past 10.1 to the intermediate release - what I don't understand is why there is an inconsistency across the network for releases - although saying that I dont even get 3G here never mind 4G - downloading anything interesting outside of a WiFi network is a joke.

creativepubtalk,
Have you tried manually checking for Upgrade?
Vodafone had delayed the previous version but did release it earlier this year.

Yes - tried all ways but nothing - I remain on 10.1.0.2312
Time to go into the Vodafone shop I think and have a rant.

They won't be able to do do anything as it is Blackberry who actually push out the updates to the handset. It is done in a staggered fashion and not all phones will get the update at the same time. You do have to be patient and wait for your IMEI number to come up.

Thanks Grandmaster - that's the first time I've seen mention of a staggering update queue operation by Blackberry through a carrier. There is a lot of confusion and mixed messages out there because users obviously have different experiences. That's why it would be good if Vodafone communicated a bit more and told its Blackberry customers what's going on. Anyway, having been spurred on from other comments to all possible ways of legitimately getting the update, I tried the Blackberry uploader - failed - then removed completely my existing Blackberry Link software and downloaded the latest version, connected up and hey presto - update available came up. However the experience is tortuously slow, despite having a fast PC and fast broadband. The download took almost two hours, the Blackberry server link bombed eight times and the download then reverts back 10% each time but with persistence the war to 100% download can be won. Installing takes another hour - now I realise why trying to update this OS version on the phone, which is massive, has never worked through Vodafone direct on a 2G signal. I now have the latest version of the 10.2 upgrade at long last - patience in a queue never was my strong point. So for any other frustrated Blackberry Z10 users - try with the new Blackberry Link.
