Hi....i have a galaxy s7 edge and I'm trying to connect it to my car via Bluetooth. The phone connects fine however my contacts list appear momentarily then disappear. I have checked the relevant boxes in settings but still nothing. I've connected my wife's s6 fine her contacts appear no problem... any suggestions?... thanks

Oh joy, Bluetooth and cars!   Various thoughts:

1. Try deleting and re-establishing the pairing for your phone (at both ends), if you haven't already.

2. Try deleting both pairings on the car, then just set yours up.  if the contacts appear, add your wife's and see if they both still work.

3. Get your dealer to make sure the car has up-to-date BT software.  What make of car is it?

I see you & your wife have different phones.  It's entirely possible that the car has a older BT stack that isn't compatible with your (later) implementation and that there's nothing more recent for the model (of car).   Sadly, car makers tend to fit BT as an afterthought and don't bother too much with functionality.

Thanks for the reply. Tried unpairing and pairing lots of times, turned all off then on again.. tried my phone alone and with my wife's... contacts still show then disappear with an empty list message. Strangely, if I want to sent a message via my car...only two contacts appear as an option to message

In that case, I'm afraid it's a compatibility issue between the phone and the car.  The fact that an older phone works when a newer one doesn't indicates that it's more than likely to be an issue with the car's software.  Manufacturers often use older implementations, and often in a proprietary way that precludes backwards compatibility for later versions (ie your phone).  You can see if there's a software update for the car, but this is not something that's often fixed, so I doubt that, even if there is, it'll make much difference.   Because it's not something that affects the driveability of the car, it's rarely a priority.

If full BT connectivity is important, you may need to consider a 3rd-party unit.

What make of car is it?

It's a brand new citroen c3... only got it on Thursday... what other options are there?

Not a lot, tbh.   You could talk to your dealer and see if they know anything, which they probably won't.  Whenever I've picked up a new car, the salesperson has gone through the controls and asked if I want to pair a phone, which they do then and there.  Problems would become apparent at that point and I suppose it might be possible to reject the vehicle at that point as not fit for purpose, but it's a bit extreme.

The dealer might be able to give you contact details for Citroen so that you can take it up with them, but I'd also expect a shrug from there too.   As I said, car manufacturers don't tend to give BT much serious attention.

Problems usually seem to occur with VW/Audi group vehicles and I haven't heard of issues with Citroen, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.   I've had a succession of Renaults and they've all worked, but it's a different group.

I can only wish you good luck, I'm afraid.
