Cant Get Started Mobile Broadband Usb

I purchased a black mobile 3GB broadband dongle in May 2009. I originally set it up on my old laptop to check it worked and it seemed ok. I pirchased a new laptop (Windows XP) but when i plugged the dongle in to that I could not get it too load up the software. The light remains red on the dongle and the laptop cannot see the dongle and no software has loaded. I know the usb ports work with my other usb memory sticks. Any suggestions?

how long has it been then since you last used your dongle?

Inside the device is a sim card, if that sim card is in-active for 3 months or more i believe the number get`s locked and put back into the mobile number database. if you pop into your local vodafone store or ring vodafone customer services i think they`ll be more than happy to send you out a new sim for your modem.
