Charges And Itemised Bill For Usb Modem

emilius
Not applicable
Hi All,

Can anyone explain something for me please???

I've just looked at my bill for a usb modem and somehow, i've gone 3 gig over my download limit. Now then??? My usage bar says that i only used 3.1 gig, so why didn't my software notify me as to why i'd gone over the predetermined level set for 5 gig??? Weird isn't it???

To attempt to see when and where i'd gone over my limit. I thought i'd look at my itemised bill "nightmare"! Now where i become a little boggled is how they itemise It. Basically, the bill shows five usages at 0155 in the morning, showing i'd used 2.8 mbs. That works out as 14mb in a minute??? I've never had a connection that quick??? Why doesn't it just show you what you used in that minute? why does it show:

0154 2.8mb
0155 2.8mb
0155 2.8mb
0155 2.8mb
0155 2.8mb
0155 2.8mb
0156 2.8mb

Surely, it would be just as easy to say 0155 = 14mb

or is it just me???

Has anyone else had issues with charges for going over their limits?

Sorry for the rant, but i've had no end of issues with this modem and Vodafone, i know i'm not renewing!

Hi Savvy,

A warm welcome to the eForum! :D

The usage bar on your dashboard software is not reliable and is not an accurate measure of usage.

When looking at the usage on your bills, when looking at data it isn’t possible to gain an insight into usage by looking at the breakdown and the only way to get an accurate figure is to look at the total usage at the end of the bill.

This is due to the amount of small packets of data that are also running in the background on your PC and due to the way our billing system picks up and records the data.

As you’re new to the forum and clearly an online user, I want to take the opportunity to tell you about the fantastic things you can do through My Account, such as managing your price plan or adding or removing bars. I recommend you take 5 minutes to take a look at all of the things you can do online without having to contact the call centre, saving you lots of time! :)

All the best
