Check marks in SMS messages?

jonesnewton

Hello all,

SMS messages in Vodafone Smart Ultra 7.

I have tried to search this but no luck, I hope I explain myself correctly 🙂

In SMS messages there are check marks at the end of a text message, usually ( I assume) when a message is sent in the list screen it is grey check mark on a white background circle and when you open the message it shows as a green check mark on a white background circle.

Today I sent a message and it shows as white check mark on a grey background circle and when you open the message it is white check mark on a green background circle? >> Does this mean the message has not been received or something similar??

TIA

Hi,

I'm unable to see something relevant in the user manual Here.

Have you managed to ask the person you sent the text message if they received it or not.

If you have a local Vodafone Highstreet Store the employees maybe able to walk you through what the various indicators are and or check with Customer service on 191 or Live Chat.

Hi,

yes there is nothing in the manual or online, really wierd for Vodafone.

I was hoping for a reply to my message today, but I dont want to call just incase they are away, maybe even just switched off mobile for the weekend??

It would be nice to understand these symbols..

Oh I am in Czech Rep so customer service here is not an option.

Thanks anyway 🙂

You're Welcome.

My apologies the customer service info I gave is for the u.k as this is the forum for u.k Vodafone customers.

I had forgotten from our previous discussions your not in the U.K. :smileyembarrassed:

@jonesnewton

It sounds like this may be something that’s changed, due to a software update.

Until we’re sure whether the message has or hasn’t been received, we can’t escalate this.

If you’re able to find out, please let us know and if the message wasn’t sent, we can look into this for you :Smiling:

Hello Collen,

thanks for your reply, may I start by saying I am not in the UK, I am in Czech Rep, sorry for any confusion its just I find it easier to find info here on this site 🙂 the mods & members here are great 🙂

Maybe the systems within Czech and UK are different?

Anyhow, I have resent SMS today and it is still "pending" ? When I updated it today the message was showing twice, now it is only showing once with a different time stamp?

As and when I found out if the message has been received I will update you, but can I ask are these check marks normal within Vodafone?

Thanks

Neil

@jonesnewton Thanks for getting back to us and advising you'll update us.

We'll be more than happy to ask our Technical team and see if they can find the answer for you :Smiling:

If possible, please screenshot what it is you're getting, when you try to send your message (you don't need to include the actual message).

Please post the picture on this thread and we'll email it over to our Technical team, to see what they think.

Hi Collen,

here it is, this is the main message screen it is white check mark on a green background circle (see attachment) and on the "list" screen it is white check mark on a grey background circle.

TIA

Neil

Hi @jonesnewton

I know exactly what you mean, you get the notification ticks during the text conversation.

On my sent messages, I have a white tick on a grey background, this lets me know the recipient has received and read my message.

On sent message during a coversation, I dont have any ticks.

The other alternative are delivery reports, this can be enabled through your message settings.

As you are using an overseas network, it may be the network uses notification ticks differently to the UK networks.  Although Customer Service can be difficult on the Vodafone Czech network, it may be an idea to try and make contact.  They may be in a better position to clarify the meaning of the ticks.

Alternatively, pop into a Vodafone Store and let them look at the ticks.

Hi Ann,

I get grey tick on white background normally when sent and if I receive there is nothing. My meesages are all in one window.

My account is Czech.

Maybe its different for UK to Czech settings, so lets see?
