Having done the recent software update I am now unable to transfer my contacts from my sim card to my phone and also the music player needs access to manage and make calls why?

Can you list.....

 

  • Which phone make and model your using. 
  • Which firmware have you just updated to. 
  • Have you performed a factory reset after creating a back up which can solve most glitches after a firmware update.

Make and model SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 4
I think the firmware update was ANDROID VERSION 6.0.1
What I don't understand is why the music app needs access to
MANAGE AND MAKE CALLS
MESSAGES
LOCATION
AND 2 OTHER THINGS I CAN'T REMEMBER

Some permissions are weird, though usually harmless.   You can try revoking the ones you don't like (Settings|Apps - individual app|Permissions and see if the app still works.   If anything's essential, it'll say so when you open it.

 

If you can't transfer your contacts, can you export them (there's usually a menu option, probably under Manage Contacts)?   Vcard is generally the best format and you can then import into the location you want.   In this case, I assume it would be Google and you can do this either on the phone or on the website (which might be easier).
