Coverage Checker Maps

Hi just a quick question. On the coverage checker it shows my postcode as having full 3G broadband coverage now but in the future been in a dead spot again. Why would this be if the network is getting improved all the time?
Thanks.

It's because the returned results for the current and future options are the wrong way round at the moment. There is another thread about it here

Hi. Thanks Lee.
My signal does seem a bit improved lately and even going bt the worst map it is different to before. How accurate are they? I gathered it must be worked out on a simulation or something. Its just i can 3-5 bars 3.5G at the back of my house but the worst map shows me in a dead spot.

The postcode checker is a joke. Barely get 3G in the two areas of inner London I've lived in and the service frequently hangs, disconnects or won't load. A quick check of my speed registers 2 bars and 0bps download speed. Save your money and don't bother with this terrible service. Seriously, it's far more trouble than it's worth and the technical support is the worst I've ever experienced.

Hi cjm,

They are accurate, but they don't give a great deal of detail. It's just a simple "Yes or No" map of coverage, but doesn't take into account the level of variable signal which we can see on our internal tools, such as telling us that coverage is classed as outdoor or indoor or patchy, etc. This is still based on simulated coverage, but environmental and congestion factors can greatly extend or shrink a projected coverage area. It really isn't an exact science :(

What ive done to get round the patchy coverage is get a edimax 3G router and put it in the kitchen window at the back of the house so i can pick it up anywhere. It never loses 3.5G now but can slow alot at peak times which can be expected.
