I have a default rating on my credit report due to vodafone.
All my credit is not up to date - the issue arose when they sent me a wrong bill through and I hanged to another provider- there was a lot of confusion with regards to the bills - they sent incorrect information then it went to debt collectors who were helpful but I needed the correct information
Then I tried to call vodafone but as I did not have a rented line with them anymore they would not talk to me anymore and I could not speak to anyone on the phone - they never called me back
I called them so many times and so many times they would not get back to me
I ended up clearing it up with the debt collectors who they spoke to - but only once they sent through a rectified bill
I now cannot change my mortgage all for a £50 bill which has not been settled months ago - but was NOT my fault it was delayed the payment - I still have the numerous online conversations and I spent £15 or more in phone bill trying to speak to people at Vodafone
Once Vodafone even said that I did not have a default on my account and I was fine- it just ridculous and is really effecting my life
Anyone know how to get rid of the default on my credit rating
No-one at Vodafone seems to be able to help they do not seem to talk to different departments let alone get a bill correct

Hello @EmaLC
I appreciate how damaging a default and or marker can be from personal experience, and the ensuing difficulty in having one removed from a Credit File.
To start off with It's always important to speak with Customer service first to clear up why this has happened before the Credit File Support Team can help.
Below in Bold is a help guide I have written which explains which department to ask your case to be referred to - i.e 'Vodafone Credit File Support Team' - and how to add a 'Notice of Correction' via Experian.
It is Free to add the Notice of Correction. This gives you the tools to add your own notes up to 200 words on your Credit File to explain why the Default is showing.
It would only be worth adding this if you think the default is wrong and shouldn't have been applied. Please take into consideration that a Default will only be removed if it was reported on your Credit File incorrectly.
By paying the debt it should have changed the Default Starus on your Credit File from Outstanding to Settled. Its worth checking via http://www.experian.co.uk that it's correct. But even by paying it off and the status changing it would typically still remain on the file for 6 years.

To add this Community Forum is monitored by a Vodafone Team. Although they cannot remove the default themselves they can help and advise. They are a small team so if you wish please hang in there while they catch up.

Hi,
I've had the same problem with Vodafone which has been ongoing since around September 2015. I cancelled my Vodafone contract back in September 2015 giving 3 month notice before hand (June 2015). In December 2015 i received a letter saying I had late payments which I shouldnt have had as I had cancelled the contract. I phoned Vodafone in December to explained that I shouldn't owe anything as I had cancelled with them. They said they could see i had rang back in the June to cancel but it hadn't been processed correctly.
They apparently sorted it all out again and I didn't hear anything until about April 2016 when I received a debt collection letter saying I owe Vodafone money. I rang Vodafone straight away and also spoke to them online to which I have saved the conversation.
Basically I was told that my account has definitely been cancelled and that in fact Vodafone owed me £29 not me owing then £24. I questioned them as to why I had a debt agency asking me for money and he said that it was an error and that he will sort that fee out so I don't owe Vodafone anything.
This was back in April 2016. And stupidly ive never actually checked for the refunded amount and never had any communication from Vodafone themselves since so assumed it was sorted. However recently I've checked my credit score and Vodafone have defaulted and have caused serious damage to my credit score. Not happy as me and partner are wanting to start the process of applying for a mortgage and this won't happen if the default stays on. Currently owe them £24. Im happy to pay this to sort it but I'm guessing this won't sort the default out??
Help please.....
Thanks

@Kwills16056 - It sounds like this hasn’t submitted. Please check your spam and junk folders though just in case the auto reply has gone into there.
If you’ve not received this, please try again but when completing the form, manually type all of the information (email address etc) and don’t copy and paste it - sometimes pasting the email address can cause the form to not send.
