Delivery date

So the release date is the 11th of March but if you pre-order Samsung says you can benefit by having it 3 days early. Will vodafone honour that? I've pre-ordered mine but the sales guys have no idea when the phones will start to get dispatched.

That's not true. In the last 9 years I've been with Voda, I've had two different mid-contract price rises imposed on me! I think they just limit them to a small enough change not to be considered "material" (which means you have no legal right to break the contract). That's how pretty much all firms do it.

It wasn't true but now it is. Ofcom ruled that mid contract price rises were unacceptable. O2 and EE changed their T&Cs to allow them to increase the price by inflation every year. Vodafone is committed to no mid term price rises as detailed in this article.

Nice!

I've had pretty much nothing but bad experiences with Vodafone since I joined a few years back. I thought twice about staying with them but the 20% employee discount I get is too much to pass up simply for some bad customer service. Besides, I'm more than happy with their reception, it's the only network through which I get 4G at home.

As for my S7 pre-order. I ordered it on the morning of the 23nd. I was assured I'd get it on the 8th or certainly before the 11th. I was then continually told there were no problems on Live Chat sessions despite the tracking website still saying the same (and still does) as it did the day I ordered it 10 days ago. I was then told a few days back the order had become "stuck" and needed to be released which in itself could take over 5 working days. I was then guaranteed my order would be treated as priority and I'd have delivery on or before the 11th. But I suspect it was lip service to simply stop me cancelling so I won't hold my breath. If I don't get it on the 11th I will probably cancel though, what's the point of pre-ordering over two weeks prior to release date if you can simply walk into a store and get it faster?

The real issue I have is the uncertainty. Vodafone must know how many phones they will receive from Samsung. I assume they most likely have the phones in a warehouse ready to go and also have the figures of the people who have pre-ordered.

Surely then they can say what date we will receive our phones.

Give it to the courier the night before they deliver next day ... not difficult

Andrew, where is the uncertainty? Voda said phones would be delivered before the 11th, and probably on the 8th. I don't see any uncertainty.

Just chill and stop stressing about this. You'll have your phone this time next week. Seriously, there are more important things to worry about in this world.

That's uncertainty right there before the 11th probably the 8th aha. Problem is I need to know what day to stay in the house and having ordered 2 weeks ago I don't think a single day would be too far fetched

I was told the courier will contact me the day before to indicate an intent to deliver the following day. That's fine with me, I don't need to to know a week in advance the exact day they will deliver. Then again, my wife doesn't work so having someone wait in the house on short notice isn't a problem for me, I understand for some it might be.

I juggle university with work and my only day off being a Sunday. Scheduled meetings in uni along with work being very inflexible more than a days notice is near essential

Depending on the courier, it's possible you will be able to collect from their nearby depot either the evening they try to deliver it or the following day. Who do Vodafone normally use for phone deliveries?
