Hi Anglosaxon1,

Welcome to the Vodafone eForum from all of the team. :)

From what you have said it sounds like one of the drivers are missing.

Firstly i would recommend completely uninstalling the VMC software and uninstalling the modem from the modem list in your laptop.

Once this has been done, simply restart the laptop and install this again from scratch.

Please let me know how you get on and we can investigate this further for you if needed. ;)

Hi AS1

Just a thought here.

Drivers can become corrupt due to your computer going on standby or hibernating without the datacard being shut down properly beforehand. If this happens close down the Vodafone Mobile Connect software, then safely eject the datacard, restart your PC and reinsert the data card. This should rectify the problem. If the problem still occurs reinstall the Vodafone Mobile Connect application software.

To avoid this problem, remember to close your Vodafone Mobile Connect software and remove the data cards prior to placing your computer in 'hibernate' or 'standby' mode

What do you think? Does this ring any bells?

Please advise

Thanks Albert for your response.

It rings bells, I have started using the hibernate more recently. I have tried your solution, but alas no joy.

I have also tried updating the software from the business.vodafone.com site (PC connectivity, operatings system, W7) again no luck. Reinstalled installed new pack etc.

From the manufacturers forum site, it appears this is a common problem, the dongle was purchased almost 2 years ago well before W7 and updating the drivers seems to be an imposiibility so I may purchase a new dongle because I have spent what feels like a lifetime trying to fix thii problem.

Any further potential solutions still welcome, many thanks.

Hi Anglosaxon1,

Since the modem was working with this machine before, and is still working with other machines, all signs point towards some sort of system change to the computer itself being responsible for this fault. Unfortunately that makes it especially difficult for us to pinpoint exactly what is wrong, as it will be something unique to that machine.

What I would recommend, is using the System Restore option in Control Panel, to restore your system configuration back to a date when the modem was working properly. Assuming it was a system configuration change that caused this, the problem should be resolved by this method.

Hi Anglosaxon1,

Thanks Jon tried that I was on hol for a week in between, so the restore date isn't old enough.

Ordered an upgrade K45405 to see if this would work, no luck.
uninstalled norton 360 completetly, no luck.
loaded upgrade software, no luck

any more suggestions please

Hi Anglosaxon1,

It's a shame to read that our above suggestions have not worked for you - can you try downloading and installing our very latest Vodafone Mobile Connect software?

Other than the above, if the modem is working fine on another computer, I would recommend perhaps enlisting the aid of a qualified computer technician to take a look at things hands-on. This might be the only way to uncover what's actually going wrong. Sadly as we're not qualified Microsoft Accredited technical support (and that you've confirmed that the modem works with other computers), we really can't provide any official Windows support. :(

Perhaps one of the community can help further?

Let us know how you get on!
