My contact is due to end in the next few months and I'm not wanting to upgrade my phone as I'm happy with the phone I've got. I haven't had a contract phone before and don't know where I stand. When my contract expires does the monthly payment automatically reduce to cover just bundle cost (rather than paying for phone and bundle)? If so, how would I find out how much this would be? Can I change to Sim-only and keep my number and choose a tariff with a higher data allowance than I currently have? Thanks.

Nothing happens automatically. You can upgrade to a sim only plan and start saving money as soon as your early upgrade date is reached. But you have to do it or the monthly payments will stay the same.

Hi @DonnaD14
If you decide to change to new SIM only tariff, Vodafone will ask you to wait until you are in the last month of the contract. If you are in your upgrade period, you would be able to upgrade with the remaining time left of your present contract added onto the new agreement.
If you are eligible a further option would be flexi upgrades on this link flexi Upgrades.

Hello @DonnaD14
When your at or near the contract end date and not the early upgrade date you can...
1. Let the Contract automatically change to a 30 day rolling contract. Everything remains the same.
The costing wouldn't drop because your paying for your allowances. The phone is given to you as an incentive of having a full contract.
2. Upgrade and get a new phone anyway which you could keep or sell and negotiate a new contract and tariff.
3. Go to a 12 month or 30 day SIM only contract.
4. Give notice to request to change from Contract to Payg which takes 30 days to process.
I'd suggest to call 191 and choosing thinking of leaving should get you through to the Retention Department where you can discuss and negotiate.
Good luck.

You've been given some good advice on this thread. The best call out was by BandOfBrothers when he suggested you call 191 and select the thinking of leaving option.
The retentions team will no doubt match you to a sim only deal and probably also offer a discount on it for the duration of the term.
