Hi I have the Exynos octa core S7 in the UK. I have installed cpu-z and have noticed core 7 and 8 say stopped and don't appear to be running. I have installed another cpu app and that says core 7 and 8 are asleep.
Would you say this is normal????? My thoughts are under normal usage it would not need to be running all 8 cores. The core 7 and 8 are put to sleep say like when a pc/laptop is asleep and they wake up when in use which would probably under very heavy usage. Im guessing this is to save battery. I'm asking because it alarmed me when in cpu-Z it said the last 2 cores has stopped and where inactive but I supoose it make sence.
Do anyone have any info or feedback on this.
Thanks.

I just used the double window mode with cpu-Z and a few other apps running. I saw core 7 and 8 being used every now and then so I think I was right with my initial thought. So I answered my own question......
Anyway hope you are all enjoying your S7's

The Exynos chip is reportedly faster than the Snapdragon chip in tests

The Exynos CPU is definitely the better of the two, from all accounts I've read it's the more stable, has better heat management and, arguably most important of all, has by far the better battery life. The Snapdragon variant has a better GPU, but in real world use you won't notice any difference and you will pay for that additional performance with excess heat.
To begin with, I was disappointed not to be getting the more flexible Qualcomm SOC, as it's open source so AOSP and CM based roms would be far easier to cook. However, even ignoring my points above in the first paragraph, all Snapdragon S7/S7 Edge phones have locked bootloaders, meaning they can't even be rooted on stock, never mind have a completely custom vanilla Android build flashed.
No, we definitely got the better deal with Samsung's own SOC.
