This month, the latest Nexus 6P 6.0.1 patch added Wi-Fi Calling support, which now enables EE users to use Wi-Fi Calling even if they have a SIM-free model bought elsewhere (and of course, it works on EE supplied versions).
The 5X also got the same update so I assume also works.
Wi-Fi Calling doesn't, however, work on Vodafone with the 6P. I can access the menu, turn it on, but it doesn't enable - and simply deselects the option the next time you enter the menu.
So, my question is when will Vodafone support Wi-Fi Calling on the Nexus phones with the latest update?
Also, the Android N beta also includes the same support. Ultimately, going forward the plan will be for Android to work like iOS, with independently updated 'carrier settings' so Wi-Fi Calling and VoLTE settings can be sent to a device much like APN settings can for data.
We can't imagine having to have a Vodafone supplied phone to access data on Vodafone, and it's crazy that it's the case for Wi-Fi Calling and VoLTE - both essential services for the future.
So does anyone know when Vodafone will be increasing the number of supported handsets, including the 6P and 5X? Likewise, for the new phones like the S7, S7e, G5, P9 etc?
