Hi
Sonetimes when a phone is glitching it's an idea to create a back up to preserve the information in the phones memory , remove any Sd card and perform a factory reset.
If this does not help then Sony do apply a 24 month manufacturing warranty. This would not cover issues arisen from water damage or a drop for example.
I would first suggest contacting Sonys Uk Support site for initial assistance.
Some vodafone help links if you wish for Vodafone to help.

Be sure to create a backup to preserve your information in the phones storage.
Take Time / Date stamped pictures of the device to show the condition you sent it back in Take one of it turned on.
Regarding the rubber port this could be advised as wear and tear.
After 30 days of owning the phone it would be a repair only.
You can upgrade early but you would need to pay off any remaining months of the contract.

Try what bandofbrothers has said. Loss of signal is always a difficult thing to diagnose as it can be caused by many things. However, if the issues persist, go direct to Sony. The loss of the charge port cover would count as damage and Vodafone would have to refuse a warranty repair because of it. There were issues with port covers on some of the early Xperia Z series and I believe Sony accepted this and dealt with it under warranty. Even if they don't do that now, I would expect that they would look at the phone and fix other issues if they're clearly unrelated to anything that might be classed as damage.
