My contract includes unlimited minutes. Later this month I am visiting Germany and I intend to forward calls from my Vodafone mobile, which I shall leave at home, to a PAYG phone which I shall take with me. The forwarding works fine in this country. Should I anticiapate any problems with calls being forwarded to the PAYG phone when abroad?
I appreciate I could take my Vodafone mobile with me and take advantage of the "Worry Free roaming" but I don't use the phone very often and unlikely to receive very many calls whilst away. If I did lose the phone I'd rather lose the old PAYG one that my brand new iPhone.

Hi,
What about putting your contract sim in the Payg phone ?
Ensure a Sim Pin is turned on so no one can eject the SIM card and use it in another phone ,and the phone itself has an entry pass lock or code. This is to protect against unauthorised usage.
Ensure any abroad bars are off in your myvodafone and the phones frequencies and bands support the ones used by the foreign network.

Fair point! When I originally thought about this I wanted to be sure I wouldn't overspend hence the reason for the PAYG phone where my liability would be limited by the amount of credit. Now I have recently changed to an unlimited tariff then that argument doesn't really stand up.
Thank you.

You're welcome.
Here is a really good link to Vodafone and abroad use.
As there is no guarantee everything will work while roaming I would suggest using an unlocked to all networks phone or have the Payg phone unlocked so a local SIM card can be used.
Or purchase a cheap feature / basic phone while your there.
