Galaxy S3 has become very very slow

I have had my S3 for over 2yrs now and just before Christmas the battery started playing up and the phone was becoming very slow at everything. I got a new battery which has sorted out that problem but he phone itself is still slow. If I close the Internet it takes about 10 seconds to actually shut down, if I flick through my pages to find an app it takes a few seconds to catch up. Generally it has become a bit of a pain. Is this normal? Do I need to get a new phone? I love my S3 and would want another one, does anyone know where you can get them?

Hi there

Before you go out an buy a new phone, have you done a factory reset of your current device?  That could be a really good place to start as it completely wipes the device and restores it to the out of the box state.  So, any problem apps would be removed.  You'd need to make sure that you have backed up your personal details first.

Give that a shot and let us know how you get on.

Sound advice from drey_p.   A reset would be part of the repair process, if you went down that route, so you won't have lost anything (as long as you back up carefully).  Samsung devices do tend to need a reset after some software updates, and that may be the cause.
