Hi
I have had a HTC One X for the past month, however this problem has been gradually getting worse.
Mainly in work but its also happened other places i can have a great signal and be on HSDPA or 3G, then i will move to somewhere such as the kitchen area in work and the signal will drop out. I will then return to my desk and put the phone in the exact place it was getting full signal and data connection but the Signal will not come back. I will get the No Signal message.
I have tried leaving the phone for over 30 mins but the signal doesnt come back and also looking for the network manually but it doesnt find it.
However, if i restart the phone the full signal and HSDPA/3G connection will come back.
Is this a fault with the phone or a strange network issue?

Hi Everyone,
Can you confirm you've tried the latest software update, which was released a week or two ago?
Thanks,
Tom

Does this specifcally address the signal issue? Nothing to that effect in the changelog published by HTC.
Just updated to 4.04 so it won't take long to establish if there is any improvement.

I've been running Android 4.0.4 (2.17.401.2) on an unbranded HTC One X for about a month now and haven't noticed this problem occur since updating. I used to see it quite a lot on 4.0.3 so it seems to be fixed for me.

I updated to the latest software as soon as it came out and my problem remains.

I'm on a new HTC One S, but encountered the same problem. Android version 4.0.4 / software version 2.31.401.5.

So far so good. the phone now seems to hang on to weak signals bettter than before the update.
When I do lose signal there have been no instances of it not reconnecting when moving to a good signal area.
Cautiously optmistic.

Update.
All is well !
Still no hanging following a signal drop out - despite it rotinely happnening before the update. I also fancy that the phone seems more sensitive when signal is low keeping signal when I am indoors , in supermatket etc. But this may be plecebo effect!.
I'd like to think this is fixed and the evidence so far is that ithas been - So well done HTC.
It's also nice to be able to use live wallpaper without the stuttering transitions between screens.

I know a few people have had signal drop-outs and i have had the dredded "preparing sim" message pop up on me a fair bit. Please do not quote me on this, but i have found something which could be of relevant interest to some people off of XDA-Developers:
"The HT24 and HT25 build of the HOX, use a different manufacture SIM card reader. Motorola instead of Toshiba. (I will post up the email from HTC about that I can't access it from my phone). The Motorola card reader tray part is 0.02mm deeper. Aperently that's enough for one of the contacts to lift off SIM card"
it also states:
"according to HTC the change was made to increase cell signal strength and reliability."

My brand new HTC One X +...just got it today keeps dropping the network signal.
one minute i have full signal and then the next it loses the signal altogether.
after 5-10 minutes the signal comes back again.
This keeps repeating the same pattern over and over.
